Google Daydream VR

Google Daydream VR was a virtual reality platform developed by Google. It was announced in 2016 and released later that year as a successor to Google Cardboard. Daydream VR was designed to be a higher-quality and more immersive VR experience than Google Cardboard, while still being affordable and accessible.

Daydream VR used a smartphone as its display and processing unit, with users inserting their smartphone into a Daydream VR headset to create a VR experience. The platform also included a handheld controller that users could use to navigate VR environments and interact with virtual objects.

The platform had a range of VR apps and games available for download, including YouTube VR, Netflix VR, and The New York Times VR. However, Google announced in 2019 that it would be discontinuing the Daydream VR platform, as it had not seen the level of adoption that Google had hoped for.

While Daydream VR is no longer supported by Google, it was an important step in the evolution of virtual reality technology and helped to make VR more accessible to a wider audience. Many of its features and innovations have since been incorporated into other VR platforms and technologies.
